The article draws upon the medicinal and apotropaic properties of rue mainly through written and oral testimonies, demonstrating its importance and wide spread in antiquity through modern times. It was mainly used as an emmenagogue, abortifacient and anti-baskan so it was present in the garden of almost every Greek traditional household until recently.
